The ideal choice for applications in unpressurised systems: bursting foils (rupture foils) by Berstscheiben Schlesinger GmbH. They are made of aluminium or polymer and when the tensile strength of the respective material is exceeded, the burst foil tears and the pressurised medium can safely escape. The burst pressure is determined by the tensile strength and the thickness of the material used and, for burst foils made of polymer, also by the mechanically applied imprint. Bursting aluminium burstin foils (rupture foils) may produce loose fragments, while the predetermined breaking point of the polymer bursting foils (rupture foils) results in defined and therefore fragment-free tearing of the bursting foil (rupture foil).
One application of bursting foils (rupture foils) is hand-held fire extinguishers. They prevent the penetration of dirt and dust, which would make the hand-held fire extinguisher unusable. However, in the event of a fire, they facilitate the unrestricted release of the extinguishing agent, as they reliably burst at the predetermined pressure.
Berstscheiben Schlesinger offers standard bursting foils (rupture foils) made of aluminium in sizes 8.5, 10, 14.5, 17.5, 18, 21 and 30 millimetres for pressures between 0.5 and 3 bar. Our polymer bursting foils (rupture foils) come in the standards sizes of 14 and 16.5 millimetres. They can resist pressures between 1 and 5 bar. We will of course also adapt the product specifications of our bursting foils (rupture foils) to your application.
