Bursting discs and diaphragms are a matter of trust. The required properties are not easy to define and even harder to recognise on the component, which often appears very simple from the outside. The burst pressure – the main property of the bursting disc – can only be tested destructively. Therefore, tested and supplied discs must correspond precisely.

And that can only be achieved by a consistent quality management. We are proud to have been certified according to ISO 9001 already in 1994. But more important than that is the sign of confidence from our customers, who have placed orders with us for safety components used in airbags, fire extinguishers, chemical tanks, high-performance batteries, extruders or high-purity gas installations, for many years now.

Pressure tests of bursting discs, recording of stress-strain-diagrams for diaphragms, tightness tests with the helium leak detector, endurance tests at alternating loads and pressure tests under conditions of temperature are daily routine at Berstscheiben Schlesinger GmbH. Durability problems cannot always be avoided when working with components which are designed for failure.
