What you need to know before using bursting discs:

You need to be clear about

• the bursting pressure and the assigned temperature at which the system should be relieved.
• the operating conditions: pressures (vacuum), temperatures, alternating loads, media, and cleaning and filling procedures
• the sealing requirements: bubble test or helium leak test, what sealing ...
• the corrosion stresses: the media that are in contact with the bursting disc
• the flow quantities: are there specifications? What nominal width do they lead to?
• the environment of the bursting disc: is it followed by a valve? Media recirculation? Is fragmentation-free opening required?
• what regulations apply (Pressure Equipment Directive, etc.)
