Bursting discs are used in many different applications!

Typical applications are:
- Pressure relief valves in
chemical processes; bursting discs are often also used in front of
safety valves to protect them; the container bursting discs (both
composite and reverse buckling) of nominal widths 25 to 300 mm are
particularly used here
- To protect fire extinguishers
from exploding when they are themselves located in the flames; small,
flanged bursting discs and bursting caps are used here
- To protect and seal small gas
bottles, particularly for carbon dioxide applications, and welded onto
cold gas bottles in airbag systems
- To protect high-pressure pumps during water jet cutting, high-pressure cleaning, high-pressure extraction and similar processes
- To protect plastic extruders at high pressures and temperatures
- In automotive construction, in
addition to the aforementioned cold gas bottles for airbags, also in
modern air conditioning systems and in high-performance energy stores
for hybrid and electric cars, as well as in valves for the supply of
CNG (natural gas).
- For the explosion relief venting of storage tanks or pipes with solvent vapours.
